FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHY ARE THESE TAHITIAN PEARLS PRICED SO LOW?

This is not a traditional sale.

Our current collection has already been cultivated, harvested, selected and finished. By releasing these pieces at cost, we can convert inventory into available funds and redirect $50,000 from the release toward the lagoon cleanup.

Our family takes no profit from this campaign. Once the cleanup target is reached, the Emergency Lagoon Release will close.

ARE THESE GENUINE TAHITIAN PEARLS?

Yes. Every piece in the collection contains genuine Tahitian cultured pearls originating from French Polynesia.

Tahitian pearls naturally vary in color, shape, surface and lustre. These differences are not defects. They are part of what makes every pearl unique.

We do not use plastic, glass or imitation pearls in place of Tahitian cultured pearls.

WHAT DOES “RELEASED AT COST” MEAN?

Released at cost means we have removed our normal profit margin from the pieces included in the Emergency Lagoon Release.

The price still helps cover the real costs behind cultivating, selecting, finishing and preparing the jewelry. Our family does not take a profit from this release.

The purpose is to free funds currently held in the finished collection so that $50,000 can be redirected toward the lagoon cleanup.

HOW DOES MY ORDER SUPPORT THE CLEANUP?

Every eligible order helps convert pieces from our existing collection into available funds.

Our family is working toward redirecting $50,000 from the Emergency Lagoon Release to support boats, divers, cleanup equipment and responsible waste removal in French Polynesia.

Campaign progress will be published on this page so customers can follow the amount raised.

WHY IS THE LAGOON CLEANUP NECESSARY?

Plastic bottles, packaging, rope, abandoned fishing material and other waste can enter the lagoon or become trapped around working areas and oyster lines.

Some waste remains visible on the surface. Some sinks or breaks into smaller pieces that are more difficult to remove.

Healthy oysters depend on clean, balanced water. Protecting the lagoon therefore means protecting its wildlife, future pearl harvests and the families whose work depends on it.

WHAT IS THE $50,000 BEING USED FOR?

The $50,000 cleanup target is intended to support practical work on and below the water, including:

• Boats and fuel needed to reach affected areas
• Professional divers and support crews
• Collection and safety equipment
• Removal of submerged rope, nets and other waste
• Transportation and responsible handling of collected material
• Documentation and reporting of the cleanup

We will share updates as the campaign and cleanup progress.

ARE YOU WORKING WITH WWF?

Poe Hitu is supporting this urgent lagoon cleanup together with the World Wide Fund for Nature, WWF.

Details about the collaboration, the planned work and campaign updates will be published on our cleanup page.

Any use of the WWF name or logo on our website and campaign materials is made in accordance with the collaboration and the permissions provided.

WHERE DO THE PEARLS COME FROM?

Our Tahitian cultured pearls originate from French Polynesia.

They are cultivated in lagoons where oysters require time, care and healthy water to produce a pearl. Each pearl is individually selected for its natural color, character, surface and lustre.

WHY NOT SIMPLY ASK FOR DONATIONS?

We wanted to offer something meaningful in return.

The lagoon created the conditions that allowed these pearls to grow. Releasing the current collection gives the pieces produced by these waters an opportunity to help protect them.

Customers receive genuine Tahitian pearl jewelry while helping our family move the cleanup forward.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE $50,000 TARGET IS REACHED?

Once the $50,000 cleanup target has been reached, the Emergency Lagoon Release will close.

Products that remain available after the campaign may return to their regular prices. We do not intend to continue offering the collection at campaign pricing once the target has been achieved.

HOW CAN I FOLLOW THE RESULTS?

We will publish campaign and cleanup updates on our website.

These updates will include the amount raised, campaign milestones and documentation from the cleanup whenever it becomes available.

We want customers to see not only what was promised, but what their support helped make possible.

WILL MY PEARL LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THE PRODUCT PHOTO?

Every Tahitian pearl is created by nature, so slight differences in color, shape, surface and lustre are expected.

Your pearl will follow the specifications shown on its product page, but it will have its own individual character. That natural variation is part of owning a genuine cultured pearl.
